Jesse Mathews' Mother Arrested April 07, 2011 7:54 PM The mother of Jesse Mathews was arrested Thursday evening.
Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies picked up Kathleen Mathews on Highway 153 North near the Amnicola exit around 7:30. Multiple police cars pulled over Mathews in her maroon Cadillac. She was cuffed and put into a Hamilton County Sheriff's car.
We do not know what she is charged with at this point.
Her son, Jesse Mathews, is accused of shooting and killing Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, during an armed robbery on Saturday.
Jesse Mathews spent eight years in a Colorado prison on an armed robbery conviction. He was listed as an "escapee" when he did not report to his parole program. He is currently wanted in Colorado for at least two other armed robberies committed in 2011.
Kathleen Mathews told us in an interview on Monday, "After he was released from prison and given the privilege of being in a halfway house, yes, he opted to walk away from the halfway house and do another two, I think, robberies."
Jesse Mathews was shot during the ordeal on Saturday and his mother told us on Monday that he is in a coma at Erlanger. The hospital will not release the condition of prisoners.

Not surprising to me. I bet she knew what was going on and in fact I wouldn't be surprised aided and abetted and who knows what else. That interview on 9 was pretty damning IMO.

Aiding and abetting. Simple as that. Let this be a lesson to other mothers and fathers.

There is a planned press conference at 11 am with law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Attorney's Office. I'm sure it's aiding and abetting. If you're on parole, you're not supposed to leave the state, right?

Aiding and abetting. Simple as that. Let this be a lesson to other mothers and fathers. Not that simple. How about charges of having 16 stolen pieces of guns, from the Colorado robbery he did before he skipped town to here. Pretty damning for 2 parents to store stolen property and then give him the weapons when he gets to this town. His sister and boyfriend were also arrested, probably because that stupid bitch gave him the ride to our town. The mother was previously in prison for manslaughter. She had killed a home owner when they came home to find her robbing the house. Apple and tree. Stupid bitch, that entire family should burn. Looks like up to 15 yrs federal for that family.

Hopefully, they all get charged as accessories to murder. Without their help this might never have happened. It can be like a family cookout ... only at the electric chair.

News channel 9 has the pics up.............looks like a family out of a bad Rob Zombie movie. Surely you didn't expect them to look like normal human beings. People who harbor fugitives and stolen goods rarely have delicate sensibilities.

Their actually being charged under the "Hobbs Act." I'm not a lawyer and certainly haven't heard any evidence but I wonder where extortion comes into this case?

But I wasn't aware they were storing his stolen goods and all that stuff... This appears to be an ongoing issue with this family. Since that's the case, they should never be able to live in society again. Too dangerous for the innocent.

I'm afraid if he gets the dealth penalty, he will spend the rest of his life appealing and they will never pull the plug on this piece of garbage!
And honestly, I want him to suffer! I'll pay for his sorry butt to live in jail the rest of his life with a jacked up penis! I'll bet his cell mates have a good time with him!

I dunno what jail he's going to but I've heard about some things at certain jails. Oh and not that the jail guards would touch this POS but I hear there's ways to make life very miserable.

I'm often conflicted when these situations come up.
For normal human beings a long jail term would be a fate worse than death but it's just part of the lifestyle for characters like this. I, like all Chattanoogans, want this turd to suffer the maximum amount possible under the law but I don't see the justice system affording us that opportunity. The media haven't been specific but I find some satisfaction in the belief that he got his pecker shot off. I find some satisfaction in the idea that he woke up and knows that his whole family and a couple of friends are also in jail. I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I consider the added 'special' ingredients that our men at the jail are likely putting on his food.
Unfortunately, this is likely to be all the satisfaction that we get from this POS. He'll be fairly tried. He'll be fairly convicted. He'll exercise his many rights to appeal under the law. He'll live the intervening years as a cop killing hero to the other POS's that he's housed with. Eventually, when I'm an old man, and most of us have relegated this to "you remember, that cop that got killed out in Brained way back when", he'll be executed. The justice system isn't designed to give satisfaction to the injured parties... but damn I wish it was sometimes.

It would have to be the guards because, unfortunately, in prison, cop killers are heroes.

just an outstanding family with a set of morals to match.
i'm hope in an effort to save money and the community pain a deal is not cut to allow this monster to spend the rest of his life in prison. even if it is in the federal system.
he should pay with his life for this crime not be sent to prison and become a hero for being a cop killer!
