Chattanooga's new factory makes the new cheaper Jetta which has been stripped of the 'qualities' that made it a popular VW. For the sake of outselling Toyota they cheapened the Jetta to hit it's mark...which is at the bottom of the barrel compared to it's rivals. The VW fanboys who are somewhat car enthusiast will now turn away to another brand that don't have to cheapen their car to compete...erm I mean rule the world in car sales. www.autoblog.com/2011/04/05/volkswagen-jetta-ranked-last-among-small-sedans-by-consumer-r/#continued

They'll turn to Hyundai like I did several years ago. They'll cheapen em down just like almost everyone else who are making stuff. The question is how much have they cut? Will they be the next Yugo?

Chattanooga's new factory is making the new redesigned Passat. The Jetta is still being made in Puebla, Mexico.

I have a friend who was one of the first factory hires at the new Chattanooga facility and he says they are only ramping up to produce the new Passat. They are not yet at production levels to supply the market with this new vehicle.

That isn't what they showed us on the rail cars.

I keep meaning to go look at the VW CC. Anyone got any experience with it?

That isn't what they showed us on the rail cars. That must have been for show. According to my friend, they are still in the training and bug-working-out phase. Full scale production is not scheduled to commence until later this year.

Passat Passat Passat...thank you for that, MM.
Unfortunately the early reviews of the Passat are much the same as the Jetta as they are designed for the same goal.
Love VW being here but their strategy is getting some bad press...I hope they figure out how to compete with a car they and we can be proud of.
