puhleeze go catch some dangerous criminals and just give folks like this a slap on the hands vs wasting time & money to prosecute them .. I dunno .. write them a ticket or something -- geesh My best poker playing learnin' came from a former (not Chattanooga) police commissioner. www.timesfreepress.com/news/2011/may/25/23-arrested-poker-players-dealt-options-courtroom/It was a full house in Hamilton County Sessions Judge Ronald Durby's courtroom Tuesday as about 20 poker players appeared in court on gambling-related charges.
A total of 23 poker players caught playing Texas Hold 'em in an office suite off Brainerd Road went before the judge. On March 21, Chattanooga Police Department officers raided one of the games, which were part of a six-week tournament.

They say they don't want this stuff getting out of hand. Where do you draw the line? You have the state sanctioning gambling through a lottery on one hand and then you have the public servants acting like their combating it on the other.

I agree with the idea that if we just let it go it will get out of hand after a while but it seems like a waste of resources to haul all of these guys to jail. If the law allows for it, write 'em a ticket and save the manpower. Unfortunately, I think a lot of this kind of stuff is done to massage the numbers. It looks better on paper if they make a few more arrests plus they get to go on a fishing expedition in case someone has a joint or a gun in his car, or outstanding parking tickets or a "suspicious" amount of cash that can be seized or an out of date tag or a couple of xanax in his pocket. 23 people who are prone to gambling are bound to rack up a few more infractions that look good in the stats.

A serious waste of resources. IMO, it is more about tax revenue than the well being of the people. Sure, there are crooked games out there but anyone willing to gamble is also willing to take that risk. I wonder how they found out about this particular game in the first place.
I've seen plenty of lives ruined by gambling addictions but nothing like what I've seen from alcohol and tobacco. I'm currently watching a couple of loved ones slowly die from cigarette use. Go after the tobacco salesmen ... grr-rrr

Didn't something like this happen a few years ago? Seems like it was going around the forums and some chick said she was married to one of the players?

Go after the politicians not the guy who is making a living off selling legal items.
