I was so glad to see that Northgate Mall was purchased by CBL. I think it is our best chance to keep it as a mall and not suffer the fate of Eastgate.

I can't see any way that this is a negative. Ngate has a tremendous amount of underused real estate and the facility is in pretty poor shape.

Should still be viable given there is still room for growth north of Chatt....economy dependent.
On the other hand if someone comes in and builds a modern mall nearby, Northgate is toast.

Dino, I would have agreed with you until CBL purchased the property. Now they can bring it up to a higher standard to attract more business.

Where in the world is there room for another mall near Northgate? I've read pieces lately that claim mega-malls are being phased out. If that happens then I guess teenagers will have to find another place to congregate.

So there's an article in the paper about a new 'Chattanooga Village' located on 153 north before Boy Scout road to have apartments and retail space 'rivaling Northgate Mall'. 190 acre development, 700,000 sq. ft. retail space.
Who knows if it'll happen...but I bet CBL doesn't like the news.

CBL has very deep pockets and can rival anything anyone wants to build.

A thousand pardons Fredo, I don't know what I was thinking. Of course, except Fredo!
