What Everyone Should Know About The Secretive Group Trying To Swift Boat Barack Obama By Judd Legum and Adam Peck on May 6, 2012 A secretive right-wing group, Veterans For A Strong America, is attempting to do to President Obama what the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did to Sen. John Kerry in 2004. And they aren't shy about it. The group's leader and sole employee, Joel Arends, told Mother Jones, 'Yes, it's the swift boating of the president.' Arends said his goal is to take 'what's perceived to be [Obama's] greatest strength' — the successful raid on Osama Bin Laden's Pakistani compound — and make it 'his greatest weakness.' The effort started this week with a web video attacking Obama for taking too much credit. In an interview with ThinkProgress, Arends refused to discuss any information regarding how the group was financed or its leadership. Arends also declined to provide legal forms he claims to have filed with the IRS. A representative from the IRS told ThinkProgress that the agency does not have any forms from Arends' group on file. Here's what we do know about Arends and Veterans For A Strong America: <snip> thinkprogress.org/security/2012/05/06/478820/obama-swift-boat-veterans-for-a-strong-america/?mobile=nc

Why would anyone be shy about telling the truth?

Why would anyone be shy about telling the truth? Should not be. There should however be penalties for telling lies, even in an election. The Anti- Kerry Swiftboat ad was proven to be a lie. It appears that the same tactic is to be expected in this election.

It was never proven to be a lie, unless someone saying "nuh-uh!" is proof.
In fact, the overwhelming evidence is that they didn't go far enough in telling the truth.

Actually, the Kerry stuff was proven to be true.
And if we are going for penalties for lying… Barry should have the moral fortitude to walk away now and let someone else take over.

But the 60-second television commercial, being aired in three battleground states in the presidential race, sparked a furious response Thursday from Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, a former Vietnam prisoner of war, who called the ad "dishonest and dishonorable" and urged the White House to condemn it. The White House declined but distanced the president from the group's critique of Kerry. "We have not and we will not question Sen. Kerry's service in Vietnam," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/08/06/MNGUT83SS41.DTL Sgt K still promoting anything the RNC ads have produced without question.
