Here's the new meme on illegal immigration from the newly minted HSS Secretary, Stunning! The majority of Americans obviously weren't buying all of the prior arguments being made by the Progressives on both sides of the isle. Now, they dare you to stand up against this newly bestowed 'right'. 'Earned Right to be Citizens'

The whole thing is such a charade. There's a point between citizen and outlaw and it's called legal permanent resident. All the privileges of a citizen except one. They can't vote. Under the proper circumstances, I think most people would find this perfectly acceptable.

Danger! Will Robinson.
You recognize in your own comment, the interim step to the final outcome.
If most will concede that next step, it's over.
The impulse should be dismissed out-of-hand.
Gaining or granting border-running aliens the vote then becomes inevitable, whether one likes it or not.
IMO, here and now is the place and time to draw the line in the sand, that shall not be crossed.
p.s. Note W O Douglas quote below.

While it would be nice to box 'em up and ship 'em home, that's just not going to happen. The plan at hand requires them to pay a fine and back taxes plus be free of a criminal record. Add to that, that they have no right to vote and I can live with it.
Is it annoying? You bet it is. We spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours getting LPR status for Mrs Fredo and it burns me to see a bunch of guatemalan lettuce pickers get advantages that she doesn't have but, at some point, we've got to be practical about it.

Practical? Practically, destroying the country. Stop granting benefits and making it easy and people in the country illegally will find their own way out the door. The sheer cost of providing them benefits being granted is not sustainable. When the crunch comes and some illegal gets benefits that you paid for and that you don't qualify for, will be the day the music stops. You're being suckered by how reasonable the plan sounds. And if that's where it stopped, it might be fine but you know it doesn't. It's just another step down the road and closer to ruin. The law will get them most of the way there and the likes of the ACLU will get the courts to grant them full rights including the vote. It will go to the SCOTUS and be affirmed. Just like Robert did for the polished turd that is Obamacare.
It's got to be nipped in the bud. There's only one chance to do it. Once in place, there's no going back. No politician will ever be elected with a mandate to undo it. Until the system has collapsed that is. Then it's over for everybody.
Why go through all of that when it can be stopped here and now.
