and everyone else. I would of put this in the swap thread, but I had promised DINO a long time ago I would post this, so here it is.
My Great Granny Codys stack cake (she died at 102 yrs of age, she was also the grand niece of Buffalo Bill Cody) She gave me this recipe 20 years ago, she died 10 years ago. She use to make this when she was little. Enjoy!
1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup lard, 1 egg, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 tbsp vanilla (real), 3- 4 cups flour - knead to a hard dough, roll about 1/3 inch thick, put in a seasoned skillet and bake at 350 until lightly browned.
Use about a cup of dried apples, cook on stove top, sweeten to taste and add cinnamon.
Pour over stack cake and enjoy one stack, or make more and stack it high.
