Also went to the Ichiban while I was in town ... As usual, it was wonderful. Great cuts of meat, wonderful fried rice ... Makes the hibachi up here look like a bunch of preschoolers run it ...

The guy that owns those places is really great. It's the best hibachi place that I know of anywhere. Sadly, we don't go there. Nothing vegetarian.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I would like to be able to eat there again, but I can't very well have steak and shrimp while Mrs. Fredo has a bowl of steamed rice.

Fredo, they cook the vegetables in a different section of the grill.

The veggies are definitely NOT cooked in the fat of the meats on the grill. It is, however, cooked in butter, which is not vegan friendly, but vegans rarely eat out anyways, so I would assume that your wife is lacto-ovo ...

I would assume that your wife is lacto-ovo ... You are correct. If they use the same tools to prepare or serve the veggies, they're going to get a bunch of meat juice on them. In the past, they have used one spatula and\or knife on everything.

Yeah ... they're cooked and finished before the chef starts in on the meat ...
Ichiban probably deals with a fair number of vegetarians and from what I've seen, they're good at accommodating requests.
Vegetables and fried rice are prepared first, set to the side of the grill, chicken is placed to cook at top, shrimp is then prepared, then steaks, then chicken is finished.

I think I'll go there without the Mrs sometime. I don't want her to be embarassed by being unable to eat what she's ordered.

I went for the first time about a month ago. I loved it! And from what I recall, they DO cook the veggies first. In fact, they are put on your plate before they even start cooking the meat.
Oh, what a yummy place. I was missing out!!!

Fredo, I used to be friends with a family of veg-heads and they loved going there. They do have vegetarian meals. All you have to do is explain it to them when ordering.

Took my wife there and I had steak and scallops. That's really some good food. I did have to make a pig out of myself and eat every bite. My kids love the place as well. My daughter and her boyfriend go there at least once a week and my boy always asks her if she has any leftovers. You know those servings are really for two people. ;D
