An Iranian gentleman I work with turned me on to the best white rice I think I've ever had. Its a basmati with the brand name TILDA. You have to get it from an Indian food store, and it comes in a rather large 10 lb. bag. Around $20.00. You won't have to buy rice for a while!
Also, I would suggest getting a rice cooker, particularly for the working person. Pre load it so that all you have to do is add the water, press the button, and wait for the "ding" (only if it dings) while freeing you up to cook something else. 25 - 30 min.

It's in the same little shopping center as Ankars on Brainerd road. If you need a water pipe, halal meat or garam masala, it's the only place to be. ;D

153 on the right between Gadd Rd & WalMart -- it's in a small strip center that sits a little below road level.
I've had several rice cookers over the years having worn them out -- if you're going to Atlanta, I receommend the Bufford Highway Asian Market near 285 & Bufford Hwy -- they cost @ 50% less there than you can find one priced around here....

Thank you. I may consider a rice cooker. I gave up the crock pots when I gave up meat. Can you do anything else with them other than cook rice?

Most cookers I've checked out have removable steamer plates that seat in the bottom of the cooker where they serve to elevate everything you wish to steam off the bottom of the vessel -- handy appliance for steaming large or small quantities of things, too....

I've read where some rices are more nutritious as others. Brown being one of the better in nutritional value. Is this the "good" kind? BTW there's another Indian grocer on Lee Hwy right past Ryans on the right in a small center.

The differences in brown and white rice are the fact that white rice is stripped of the hull, which contains most of the nutrition. You can read more about it here. <---Click Also, I haven't tried the particular rice brand you are discussing here, but you also get a ton more flavor out of a good jasmine rice as well. It's what I use most of the time.

If anyone just got the bug to have a rice cooker, I saw some at the surplus/salvage furniture place in East Ridge. Pretty good looking device, for about $15.

We love our rice steamer. And you can also steam veggies. Hey, aren't we supposed to be hoarding rice??
