Okay, not sure if this is the right place to post this. Move it wherever it needs to be please. I know some of you guys like to go to MAH, and on the half off Thursday on channel 12's site, it is the next deal on Thursday. If you have never done it before, you pay $25 and get $50 worth of gift certificates for the place. I have gotten them for Moe's and the Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Of course, the company that does this (not WDEF) charges a fee, so you actually pay about $28 for the $50 of certificates. I also don't know you guys actual eat anything there. It says that these cannot be used for alcohol, they won't give you money back on an unused portion (my Moe's and TSC were $10 certificates, so that was not a problem, I don't know how these are), AND they don't let you use more than one at a time. So take it for what it is worth, thought I would give you a head's up. Oh, here is the link: wdef.halfoffthursday.com/I don't know if that will take you directly to the deal, or just the main page, and then you choose "shop now".

I have wondered about those. So you don't really get $50 gift certificate, you get two $25? Interesting.

We paid about $28 or $29 for them, but got the $50-worth of certificates in the mail. Hubby and I would go to Moe's, our meal cost was say $15, we gave them a certficate and another $5. Since they only let you use one at a time and don't give you change. If it is a place I like, I think it is a good deal.

But the ad makes it sound like you get a $50 certificate, not $10 ones.

But the ad makes it sound like you get a $50 certificate, not $10 ones. I agree, it does sound like that. But on the ones I got, both times, they sent me five certficates worth $10 each. Which that was fine with me, as they only let you use one at a time. I do concur with your interpretation, tho (but what do I know??).

Bignana, I didn't mean to mislead you in response to what what we received when hubby purchased for the particular restaurant we chose. We received two $25 certificates (didn't know about add'l fees until I asked him last night after reading Emanon's response-was a gift from him to me). The restaurant was upscale and took both of our certificates (plus some after drinks) for our dinner. I think I need to work on my reading comprehension. Sorry!

Sometimes I don't make myself clear. I have thought about trying to buy some of them and just never have. I wonder if each restaurant has its own way of doing this?

I wonder if each restaurant has its own way of doing this? I wondered the same thing. I thought it might be based on what type of establishment was making the offering. Murphy's offers drinks/appetizers/meal where as the one we purchased is the type of place you go for a sit-down dinner only.

If you look on the details for that restaurant that is offering the deal, they say what they allow. I just saw this one, it says $10 denominations. And I have seen a couple where they allowed it to be used to pay for anything. If that makes sense. Here is the info for MAH purchase:Denomination: $10.00 How many deals can I purchase? 2 Can certificate be used for alcohol? NO Can be used at other locations? NO Can be used for multiple visits? NO Cash back for unused portion? NO Use more than one certificate per visit? NO No cash value.
