FYI -- We placed 2nd in the fried chicken cook-off Saturday. I say we because of the help you guys offered. Sir Dire and Lord Fredo.. ;D 2 of 3 judges thought ours were 1st rate but one judge didn't care for the "lemon pepper" flavoring. My bad. I'm proud of 2nd place considering the competition. I think I was the youngest contestant there, out of 21 people. Not bad, not bad at all. * hee hee So thanks guys!! I have to say, the experience was a lot of fun.. I've never done anything like that before. Doesn't the the Fire Department have a annual chili-cook off? I'm thinking about entering my grandfather's secret recipe.... ;D

No, I dont know any local fire-fighters. I thought on the news , I had seen where they had chili-cook offs or something. I didn't know if the public entered or this was only between fire-stations. Either or, I'd be willing to share it. It's Yummmmmy. Quick and very simple.
I usually fix it for friends or neighbors who've lost loved ones. (sound morbid? -- LOL I hope not) But it's a big hit at viewings. ;D either that or big pan of lasagna
Explanation required, I guess. It's just that I feel so bad for their loss, it helps me feel like I'm helping them in some crazy small way. Gosh, I hope this doesn't come across weird or anything.. ;D

I do declare, Miss Laura.. Would that still apply to little ole' me, if I'ma originally born of and half raised in the North? *blink- flutter ;D It's weird because up there... they all want to "hear" me talk. And down here (still ..at this stage in the age) People ask me where I'm from? I'm stuck somewhere in the middle.

Either or, I'd be willing to share it. It's Yummmmmy. Quick and very simple. It is a cook off between fire fighters. They have groups, usually by station (although some betray their bunch and help their buddies at another station instead). They are picky about their chili recipes. I keep telling my husband to use my recipe and he says the "usual suspects" already have their recipes and won't change. I think mine is better, but what cook doesn't. The only other negative is now they have you cook SOOOOOO much chili. It takes days to prepare, not to mention the cost.

No pressure just a nice meal for the fighters.. if it's better than their original recipe.. than taste buds usually win by majority. LOL Plus.. unless their winning in the cook-off, I'd say time to change it up a bit. ya know? If you decide.. Let me know... how it goes. my recipe is my grandfathers. cheap & simple (depression chili is what he called it.) But I've had so many people.. from elderly to small kids LOVE it.

K78 are you a fire-fighter or your husband? You may have told me, but I suffer from bouts of CRS. My hubs brother is asst. fire capt. or something another.. up north, MD. My youngest son wants to be a fire-fighter. He's said so since he was about 4yrs. old ((((( special brand of people, IMO )))))
