Yesterday, the Doc. informs us that my son is lactose intolerant. But, this intolerance as been going on for a while. 8 mos. of shew-weee's! Long rides in the car with him are a real nightmare. Yesterday and today we've tried to watch his dairy intake. Gosh, I had no idea how many things that we eat, include dairy. At first we thought it was a little funny, but it has me a little concerned because he's only 13. Any one else heard of children having this condition?

I've heard of it but I sure would investigate alternative foods or supplements before a doctor tries to get him hooked on all kinds of wicked drugs IMO.

This stuff seems to come from not being able to break down a certain "sugar" that is found in dairy. He also passed 2 kidney stones a few years back. So ... something it not right in his digestive tract. IMO
Everytime I think of lactose intolertant, the movie "white chicks" come to mind. *snickers But it's clearly sometimes - painful and embarassing for him. So, I've thought about changing the type of sugar, in general that we use in the house. (refined granules to a natural substitute)
*maybe seeing how goats milk sits on his stomach cause I have to have cream to mash those taters. The samples she give him, do seem to help. But he doesn't like taking anything. Especially at school.
