Master, I have another question.
In the hand gun category, these two are available at the same upcoming auction.
Of what else is available, these seem the most useful of the bunch as the rest really are for the collectors.
The Browning is of Belgian manufacture and chambers a 9mm Luger.
The Glock is a 2nd generation Model 21 and takes a .45.
I'm leaning towards the Glock because it's the more modern design while the Browning appeals to me simply as a classic.
These two are not new and I don't know what condition either is in. The Glock comes in its original box with an extra clip and a holster. The Browning has an extra barrel, clip and a pouch.
Again I look for any insights from your experience.

Either way is a good investment.
I personally HATE Glocks but in spite of my prejudice they are consistently one of the top 3 weapons in performance, durability and capability.
If the Browning is what I think it is… it is not going to be worth it in the long run. As an investment piece… there are THOUSANDS of them in production. This is why Lugers in general, even those brought home during the war, have very little value unless they are tied to an important person or have a 'tale' added to them. Even then, they still rarely go up in value. Those that do go up in value however… they can reach into the thousands of dollars area.
The replica Lugars… even worse… and while Browning makes some damn fine weapons… this one is not one of their better offerings.
I would go for the Glock.
Even if something is wrong with the weapon, their service policy is good enough that you can get ANY part replaced or repaired, and generally for free.
If you do get the Glock, IMMEDIATELY call Glock arms and get a replacement recoil spring guide, those wear out pretty fast and not knowing how many rounds have been fired through the weapon, this will be an important (and inexpensive) upgrade.

Of the two, I would go for the Browning. Personally, I prefer Glock pistols but the model 21 is just too big for my hand. If you can't fire it comfortably, then it's not much good to you. You can always do both.

Thanks for your comments. They are very helpful.
Depending on the bidding, I might indeed go for both.

I gotta ask what kind of restrictions you;re going to endure in the great fozen North.
Around here you can buy a handgun at the flea market and not be too bothered, but I suspect that it's very different in the great socialist utopia under which you labor. in which you are graced by God to live. ;D

There are some strange people living here though. I was hoping you wouldn't notice. Now people might think I'm one of them. Oops, too late. As for being socialist, you've got to be to make it through the winter around here. And yes, this truly is God's country. Bald eagles, forests, bears, and fresh fish. All you can eat, Mondays to Wednesdays, 6 to 9 pm.

Just an update on how the auction went. Both of these sold for $625 each and neither of them to me.
I can buy a new 1911 .45 for about $350 (Chinese manufacture).
I was successful in acquiring a Remington 870 shotgun however.
Thanks again to both of you for your insights.

Outstanding...
If you are looking for a 45 I'd suggest either a Springfield 1911 (They come in three different sizes) or a Kimber Arms 1911.
Both are exceptional in their quality and handling characteristics and WELL worth it.

In a .45, I was always a fan of the Colt Combat Commander. It just fit my hand right.
