This piece done by John Stossel of 20/20 is over a year old and I must have missed it but it's well worth the watch.......
Guns! Guns! Guns! We need more guns! ;D

The video seems to say that banning weapons or tougher laws actually make the criminals happy. And citizens are more vulnerable to the criminal minded. Okay, I can see the logic. But I guess it would be hard to tell.. if you weren't wearing one hooked to your hip 24/7 or flashing it around.
Do they make signs for the yard? NRA membership signs or something. ha-Ha!

I've always thought the concealed handgun law was wrong. Carrying a handgun would have much more of an impact if they were worn exposed, old west style. That way all the potential criminals would know without a doubt that we are packing heat and are ready to use it.

I noticed I was reading it in the voice of John Wayne . Manlyman, that was some kind of funny. (partner.. ) ;D I know when I see a person carrying a concealed gun, lets say: in a holster thats not a police officer. It stirs a little panic or fear right off the bat. And I just dont like being intimated or placed in a fearful state thats not of my own doings. So I'm undecided on that. I would put up a sign in the yard, though. ha ha!

He's been rendered speechless?
Not likely. It must have been a glitch of some sort.

I really think that an armed citizenry that advertises its "armness" (is that a word?) is a safer citizenry.

Speechless? Never! I was having some internet trouble yesterday.
I was attempting to say that I find concealed carry to be a lot safer option. Open carry tends to scare the little soccer mommies and draw the attention of the Neanderthal set. The last thing you need is a confrontation with either the cops or some drunkard who has decided that you think you're tough because you're wearing your side arm.
I keep mine under cover. It's there when/if I need it, but nobody needs to know that.

There are a few states in which open carry is allowed. Arizona and New Mexico as well as Vermont.
Something about having the weapon visible… it really does change things. I now live in Texas however in which the rule is concealed carry only…
Get this…
Unless it's a long gun. You have to conceal a pistol, but it is perfectly legal to walk around with a shotgun or rifle on your back.

You have to conceal a pistol, but it is perfectly legal to walk around with a shotgun or rifle on your back. Yeah. That makes no sense. Except it might be really uncomfortable to conceal a long gun.
