I ran across a cool DIY insulation if any of you guys are interested. We all know that the spray foam is the best insulation currently on the market, but it's prohibitively expensive for most folks and certainly for small projects, but I've run across a company that sells a DIY foam kit that's suitable for small projects and retrofitting older houses that lack insulation in the walls. It's still a bit more expensive than fiberglass, but it's about twice as effective. Check it out Tiger Foam

How much is "a bit more" expensive?

I guess it depends upon how you look at it. Compared to fiberglass installed by the homeowner, it's about three times as much.
The thing is that you have to look at the total dollars at issue. If you renovating a bathroom that would require $100 worth of fiberglass, this would be nearly 4x as much money, but it's still only around $300. The proportion is high, but the total expense isn't. Really, what's another $300 against a $10k project?
I'm planning on experimenting with this on a small project that's coming up. I'll let you know how it goes.
