I found this brand called Margaret Holmes Seasoned Cabbage at Wal Mart and I swear it's the best tasting cooked cabbage I've ever eaten. Now it does have high sodium (430mg which is 1/2 cup out of 4 servings in can) also contains some MSG. So if your a salt watcher this stuff is not for you. Your thoughts on cabbage?

I'm a big fan of grilled cabbage, a good cabbage slaw, boiled cabbage and Italian sausage and as chops says, eating the hearts... a little salt... a lot of heat... good stuff.

Fried cabbage is the only way to go... YUM!!! i've never heard of fried cabbage, but it sounds good. It's a southern thang. You have to fix it in a cast iron skillet for it to correctly caramelize the cabbage. It has the best taste ever.

I have never heard of fried cabbage either. When I have been sick with a cold or sinus infections or the like, I crave a soup my Husband makes of cabbage and tomato juice. Strange cravings we have when we are sick.

Good Lawd, I can't believe some of you southerners haven't had FRIED CABBAGE!!!!!! god, that stuff out to be against the law I like raw cabbage, boiled, fried, and about any other way there is to cook it! I like to make my own slaw. I slice cabbage, add mayo, teeny dices of cucs and tomatoes , salt and pepper. I could eat it by its self for dinner. If I boil cabbage I like doing so with potato and lots of butter. I've never had the tomato and cabbage soup Nana, but that sounds great! I like potato soup when I am sick. My mom makes the best.

Raph, I have a question. Why would you purchase already cooked cabbage? Seems it would be cheaper and much more healthy to buy and cook your own.

You should try fried chicken cabbage... YUMMY! You pan fry the chicken first (no batter) til it's good and brown on the outside and done. Then take it out of the skillet and slice it up. Put the cabbage in the skillet with a little bit of butter or oil with a touch of water. Fry up that cabbage and season, then throw in the chicken with it at the last minute and season as you like. It is delish!!! ;D

Because I'm the only one who will eat anything remotely similar to cabbage and since I'm lazy it's the easiest way for me to get some and also not letting any go to waste. I eat the whole can! And suffer later! ;D You know my idea of cooking is opening a box or a can. Yeah I know I'm a hypocrit preaching health and all. ;D I do eat a little better than I used to though. I've tasted many home cooked fresh cabbage dishes and I'll be honest this one at Wal Mart is the best I've ever had hands down for me.

Did something different on Friday night because the spouse was sick. Fried cabbage and put some potatoes in with it then added some chicken broth to make it into a soup. It was pretty good!
