Yes it did! In 1985 Coke decided to change their formula. It was yucky IMO.

Rumor has it that they discovered something in their original formula which might cause cancer. I maintain that when they went back to Coca-Cola Classic it tasted differently than the old coke.
Remember those old cokes in the 6.5oz bottles? Those things would burn your throat. Cokes today are mild and flat by comparison. Of course, now I drink Diet Coke so all regular Cokes taste yucky. It's funny how you can drink something for years and then get hooked on something else and can never go back.

But IMO when they did this it really did change the taste of the "classic"....... Since 1985 in the U.S., Coke has been made with high fructose corn syrup, instead of sugar glucose or fructose, to reduce costs. This has come under criticism because of concerns that the corn used to produce corn syrup may come from genetically altered plants.[69] Some nutritionists also caution against consumption of high fructose corn syrup because of possible links to obesity and type-2 diabetes.[70en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coca-Cola

Raph... I just saw the commercials for the new "Pepsi Throwback". Made with natural sugar... It would probably taste better that's for sure. Thanks I'll have to give it a try. Apparently it's out already....... NEW YORK, March 5 (Reuters) - PepsiCo (PEP.N) is launching three new beverages, all sweetened with natural sugar instead of corn syrup, in a bid to widen its appeal in upscale stores and revive nostalgia for its brands.
The world's second-largest soft drink maker said its new Pepsi Natural, Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback drinks will hit store shelves in March and April.
Pepsi Natural, a premium cola made with sugar, natural caramel and kola nut extract, will be sold in glass bottles in the premium or natural food aisles of stores in 10 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSN0533164220090305I don't drink alot of soda anymore but I do cheat from time to time. I've read that "natural sugar" is just as harmful as hfcs. But the main problem with hfcs is that food manufacturers use more of it in a wide variety of foods. The thought is that Americans are actually consuming more than they did of canesugar. I don't know how true that is though.
