I need help. (go ahead and snicker, but it's not that kind of help I inquire) ;D
I'm trying to email a video to my sister, that I downloaded from my camera to my puter'. It's still sending and this has been since yesterday! The video is only about 3-5 minutes long.
I'm not very techy when it comes to this kind of stuff and normally I couldn't care less. But this one is of my sister, her children and our mother. My sis doesn't have anything like this. And since my mother passed away in May, I know she would really and I mean REALLY appreciate having it. Can anyone help?

What format is the video in? Is it a MOV, AVI, MPEG, WMV, etc.? Also, how did you transfer it to your puter? Is it on a memory card? How big is the file?
The e-mail probably timed out.
Also, some e-mail programs have limits on file sizes that you can send or receive. One way around this is to upload it to a video hosting site like Vimeo. I can help with that if you PM me privately.

okay .. Vid is only 2 minutes long. I thought it would be a little quicker to use photobucket and a link but .. not really any faster. I'm running out of ideas here.

I think I would try the compression route. With something like winzip or similar program.

Compression is the key. But if you are having problems sending it, imagine what will happen on the receiving end. My suggestion would be to privately post it to YouTube , or use this site www.eyejot.com/its a free site, then you guys can swap many videos

Oh gosh.. what a day of so called modern conveniences. *shew I squashed it.. then sent it photobucket. I'm not real happy with the upload time. But I'm sure she'll call once she gets it .. so I'll find out how long it takes to actually view it. I think I'll check out eyejot & vimeo in meantime. I've been working on that for 2 days so this Asking the experts section is Awesome! ..had I listened to Fredo's sound advice my computer and camera would have been pulverized. *jinkies man! ;D Thanks to all.

Large files can be a real pain.
Given the time and effort you've applied to this so far, go to Plan B. Just burn the file to a DVD and mail the disk to her. If the electronic transfer doesn't happen for one reason or another, the disk is already on its way.
And she might even have it before you achieve success with the electronic transfer. ;D
I recently tried to get a video clip to a niece so that she could include it on a digital picture frame she was setting up.
Something so seemingly simple got way too complicated way too quickly. The postal service came through for us.

The good thing about Vimeo is that you can upload the uncompressed file and have someone else download it from there. No worries about compressing and the associated drop in quality from the original file. For example, this little movie I made of Charles Barkley teeing off is over 162 MB.

Yes I did. Like an old dog, I went with photobucket. They blew it up large and the pixels are all out of whack. I'm not sure if she download the file .. But after looking at your video.. I like that presentation loads better. *pun intended.. LOL!! You filmed that shot? Wow, the clarity is impeccable! Is it a Cannon? And ya know, Alabama people sure take a beating. Maybe I'll stuff being so rough on them myself. hahaha
