www.commondreams.org/view/2010/07/14-1Definitely worth reading. Even the vegetarians among us are going to suffer from the effects of the industrial meat industry if we don't get this under control.

Yeah we eat the meat that has been treated with the same antibiotics that the doctors give us humans and we become immune. Makes sense why the nutritional supplement industry is now a multi billion dollar industry and others like organic foods have taking off. I bet you find that the FDA approved these antibiotics for animals in the first place. Doctors that run the FDA wouldn't have a vested interest in keeping the populations ill all the time now would they because that would be a conspiracy. Their there to promote good health. LMAO!!! What does this have to do with vegetarians?

Makes sense why the nutritional supplement industry is now a multi billion dollar industry ...quote] The reason nutritional supplement industry is now a multi billion dollar industry is because there are millions of NUTS out there that believe that taking a tablet that is nothing more than a handful of inert compounds will cure them of all the abuse they have put their bodies through. There is no credible scientific proof, no large scale studies by independent labs, out there that most of these suppliments do one thing for you. Well, they do one thing well. They empty your wallet.

I've taken to scrubbing the bejesus out of my vegetables to remove whatever insecticides I can.
Fredo, have you visited the sausage shop on Main Street yet?

No that's not the reason. The reason is most people don't want to put more poison (ala pharmaceutical drugs) into their systems knowing that they will have more side effects that will make them worse down the road so they have lost confidence. There's plenty of proof and evidence and studies if you want to wade throught it all and research it for yourself but if your to lazy then you just go to the doctor and let them fix you up with some more toxic poisons and empty your wallet even MORE.

I take care of myself, eat right, exercise regularly, don't OVER DRINK, don't smoke, no recreational drugs, no promiscuous sex. I have no need for pharmaceutical drugs or witch doctor remedies.

It seems that the healthiest habit a person can have is staying away from the doctor.

I visit my doctor once a year for my annual probing and poking. Every bit of advice or suggestions he has given me has only improved my health, both physically and mentally.

I stand corrected on that point. People of a "certain age" shouldn't avoid the annual physical, but one has to remain vigilant about doctors' tendency to push pills.

Common sense goes a long, long way. I find that most elderly types will take anything a doc pushes on them while baby boomers are paying more attention to their diets and health habits. Still though, with the rampant abuse of Rx meds it is obvious who is making the $$ in this particular trend. As for mass produced meat, eating a sick cow is probably worse than eating a not so sick, albeit drugged-up cow. Besides, in theory, corporate cows have the same rights as small business cows.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Tennessee is the biggest pharmaceutical user of all the states per capita.

If I'm remembering correctly, the average Tennesseean has 18 scrips a year. I've had none, so somebody is sure picking up the slack.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Tennessee is the biggest pharmaceutical user of all the states per capita. That can't be true it really has to be Alabama. After all mating with kin does have dire consequences. ;D On another note I read somewhere where weeds have gotten so noxious and viscious that they are no longer responding to various chemicals and sprays that farmers use so their having to devolop a whole new class of super chemicals to spray on our veggies.

Genetic mutations occur in plant and animal life (including bacteria and viruses) to provide for the survival of the species when attacked by outside agents. I believe we call that evolution.

True on both parts. And the same could be said of NW Georgia.

What company provides the drugs that doses livestock? At one time you could buy that crap at feed stores.

I think it's still mixed in with the feed.

I remember when my kids were little all the other moms were giving their kids vitamins & I wasn't. So I asked their Dr about it. He laughed and said that if my kids were eating a well balanced diet they didn't need store bought vitamins. He said the amount of vitamins kids that age needed for a full year would fit in a thimble...and he thought they were getting at least that much in their food!
I stuck with that & 20 years later they're still healthy!!
