I believe mines on its last legs. It's getting pretty corroded on the underneath and I just had to replace a part on it and found that it might or might not hold because it has rusted. What's the best sink today? Is it stainless steel? How much and how hard to replace myself? Looks like the bolts going into almost all the clips are really really rusty though.

I assume you are talking about a kitchen sink. I would choose stainless steel sink for the kitchen. I have replaced a couple in the two homes I have owned over the years. As for installation, average construction skills and average or above average plumbing skills. And tools, don't forget the tools. Sometimes the plumbing may require a spanner wrench for the drain and maybe a basin wrench to reach the hot/cold water lines at the faucet. And, speaking of faucets, while you are replacing the sink, you might as well splurge on a new modern faucet.

This will probably be two years or more from now until I get the house paid off and hopefully this patch job wiil hold. You mean I would want to replace my $14.99 Ace Hardware 10 year old made in China faucett? ;D Guess I should replace it with one of those Lowe's $299 faucett's made in China. What is a good faucett (and price) nowadays that will LAST and is easy to repair? I really hate crwling yp under that sink if you know what I mean.

You would be startled at how many faucets make that one look like the pauper's model. I wish I had known about this three weeks ago, we tossed a perfectly good SS sink and faucet in the dumpster. When you replace it, SS is pretty much the best option for a basic sink, just make sure that you get a deep one. Otherwise, you'll regret it every time you need to fill a big pot.
