So... we were extremely happy with the new fridge. So now, we have made the leap... www.samsung.com/us/appliances/oven-ranges/FTQ307NWGX/XAANow if I can figure out how to not burn everything... It's really cool though to place a paper towel over the top of the stove element, then set a pan of water on top of the paper towel and bring it to a full boil in about a minute...

I'm really surprised that you went with induction over gas.

The induction is even more responsive than gas... and cheaper to operate. One of the requirements I made of the induction was that it had to be able to generate enough heat for stir fry, and with a boost to 3600Kw, it is more than capable.

No, I'm doing all of this because as renters, we have never owned appliances. Now that we are house shopping we thought it would be a good idea to have ownership of the appliances before we bought.

Don't induction ranges require a specific type of pots and pans?

make sure you measure before you go house hunting now... since your appliance spaces will now need to be a certain width for your appliances...
'specially that fridge which looks a bit wider than standard... :-\

Don't induction ranges require a specific type of pots and pans? Special isn't exactly the right word. Basically they require that the pans be magnetic. Any of my cast iron stuff works great and I already have a set of Calphalon Tri-Ply which is induction ready. The only other oans I have to purchase will be some non-stick fry pans. Or... I can get one of these... www.amazon.com/Max-Burton-6010-Induction-Heat-Proof/dp/B00213L3PK
