Fredo... it's time for us to make the switch in the bathrooms... and let me say i despise the lighting strips they put in when they built in 1989... but we're stuck until such time as we're ready to do a rehab... so... anybody have experience with these yet...? www.1000bulbs.com/product/1001/FC14-G25SW.htmlthe current bulbs are not marked... and when i look at a similar fixture at lowes.com it says 5 60watt bulbs... but that seems kind of bright to me... anybody use CFLs like these in there strip lighting...? .

We have four like those, but they're the 40 watt equivalent. If you want bright, it looks like yours would do it. I say get those, and if they're too bright get the lesser and use those others somewhere else as singles.

thanks, AF... perhaps i'll just start out with the 40watt equivalent... i'd rather err on the side of not-so-bright lighting...
do you notice a big difference between those and the incandescent version...?

There is a little bit of a difference. You probably know they don't flicker on, but they're a little on the dim side when you first flick the switch. In the time it takes to notice the dimness, they've already warmed up to their full illumination. Also I haven't had to change a bulb in the two years we've had that fixture.
On a side note we decided to get the one's with that blueish tint to them. There is a name for it, and I can't recall it at the moment. I think its supposed to have a more natural spectrum. Its available for the incandescents as well. You've probably seen them.

They also make dimmable CFs now. they;re still the curly kind, but it gives you options on the light level.

my next dilemma is lamps with shades that clamp to the incandescent bulbs... can't she how they'd clamp flush to a curlyque bulb...
gotta see if they've solved that one yet... ;D

i did see that they've made 3-ways which is what we use in the bedroom... he has to turn in much earlier than i do when his jobs begin early... plus the lowlights are just more comfy for relaxing... .
