i cheat and use stovetop because it's quick and tasty and i don't have my mom's recipe--i think that one was in her head.
but, all you do is crumble and brown a half pound of jimmy dean sausage--i prefer the maple but regular, hot or sage will do--and, you can add some extra onions & celery when doing this if you wish. (don't drain either) while that's happening, you boil the water for 2 boxes of the stuffing but only half of the butter in another pan. when they're both done, turn of the heat, stir the water into the sausage pan and then add the stuffing mix. turn it with your spatula to mix the sausage up from the bottom, cover and let it set five minutes. then transfer everything into a baking dish and bake about 20 minutes at 350 to give the top a good crisp.
it's quite yummy.
to heat it up, i just nuke it in a bowl but i add a tbsp or so of water to help steam it warm--keeps it from drying out.

with sausage do you still use sage?

i like the maple myself but sage would probably be the best for dressing.
