There is one going on right now. I had mine replaced last month on this house I bought back in May and will get $1300 of the cost towards a tax credit. I bet they extend it.

Just curious what brand you bought and what you paid before the tax credit and are you satisifed? The reason I ask is because one day soon I'm going to have to get mine replaced.

Mine are New River. Owens siding in East Ridge put them in and yes I am very satisfied with them, I went from old single pane aluminum windows to these and can tell huge differences. I had 16 windows replaced at about $5000. (Maybe a little less, I can't find the paperwork right now) And they are the energy efficient that qualify for the tax credit.

I have 8 windows and one of those is a "master window" (I guess) and I have a sliding glass door that needs to be replaced. I'm thinking 3k to 4k. The sizes are also what I'd consider odd ball special order types on some of them. 1960 house that Jack built. ;D A year ago we went and looked at Window World (never mind those stupid bait ads BTW) and their medium of the road ones were around $400 to $500 per window. When I get this done I might call Owens and several others to get a good price. Dang though like anything else this window thingy can be a pane! ;D

Real window places build each windows these days. They measured mine and then ordered each one by size. Unless you are buying from a box store, the odd sizing does not change the prices. This is the second house I have had windows put in and they did the same thing both times.
Don't let the odd sizes scare you.

We can usually do double hung vinyl windows installed for about $250 per window but the tax credit expires this year and I don't think they'll be extending it so you're pretty much SOL on that point.
Even without the credit, they should pay for themselves within about three years. It's a huge difference.

Sorry there Fredo, I thought you just did new construction. Did not know you did windows or you could have bid it. Sorry bout that!! I build about one new house per year. The rest of my biz is renovation. My particular specialty is designing and building additions that look like part of the original structure.
