Anybody know about the roads in Buckhead and NE Atlanta? Surely they're passable by now. I have to make a run down there and would like to hear a 1st hand account of the side road conditions down there. I need to know about Duluth too. thanks

OK... this is what he had to say:
"I just got back from Atlanta. In Buckhead, Piedmont Rd and Sidney Marcus still have bad spots but are very passable. GA 400 has patches mostly at the toll plaza and several miles north of 285. Those are the only parts of Buckhead that I was in today.
Midtown (just south of Buckhead) still has many icy roads, but they are passable now. The downtown connector (75/85) is clear. The big problem on 75/85 was just south of 20. The parts that were clear today though have ice melt moving across the road and it is all refreezing.
I don't know about Duluth. I was on Jimmy Carter Blvd yesturday. Thats several miles south of Duluth. I could stuck trying to get up a hill when traffic stopped. I had to bluff my way backwards into another lane and then continue up. I live in the mountains north of Atl and our mountain roads are great."
hope this helps!!

Hey Nookie .. thanks .. ..he's right, there are some bad spots in the high rise areas of Buckhead where we had to be. PIedmont was just a parking lot of cars. The road crews were on foot tossing sand / salt out by hand. We hit some ice on Lennox Rd too. Can you imagine? I have no idea why they weren't using trucks other than b/c those streets are so narrow right there. Traffic was insane too. We didn't attempt Duluth. What should have been a 5 hour round trip took 10 hours, mainly due to traffic being at a standstill .. The side roads in everywhere down there are bad too. The expressways were clear .. however ... WARNING to all .. there are still icy spots on I-75 between Calhoun & Ringgold. I have no doubt that somebody is going to die on that highway tonight, especially near Tunnel Hill.

How do I insert a picture? I used to be able to. Now, when I click on "insert image" it just puts "[ img ] " in and does not let me browse to my photo. It is a perfect one for this thread.

It is a perfect one for this thread. your picture must be parked somewhere with a link like a photobucket or flickr account... the link goes in between the "img" tags to put the picture here... i think it's at "that other place" where you can add a photo to a post like an attachement... ;D /
