Okay so I'm driving by Lake Winnie today and see that the parking lot is full of Winniebagos, cars and campers and I'm trying to see if the rides are running because I'm thinking this is out of season. As I keep driving down the road I see cops everywhere with roads blocked off to only residents and begin to wonder WTH. Saw it in the paper that this is where they are building. He he he! Just down the road from me! ;D Live cam of them building.......... www.wrcbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13985072Wonder how they will keep traffic away from there after there done?

Is there a record of how long these homes last? Seriously ... BTW, are they blocking Lakeview Drive? I will probably check out the hoopla sometime this week.
2 of my kind hearted friends were selected as volunteers.

No it was the road right across the 2nd back entrance near the church that was blocked.

A properly built house simply cannot be put together in a single week. The products just don't work that way.

And I've seen a few followups in which the homeowners destroyed the new home or, as in at least two cases, mortgaged it beyond their ability to pay it and lost it.

Maybe the new way houses will be built will be like the HUF houses in Europe.......... www.huf-haus.com/en/home.htmlPre fab throw them up in a week and gone, pieces of junk! Lol!

I've never read where they were getting sued alot, or even once! Can you point me to that? Just curious, since this is one of my favorite shows. Gus, yeppers, some of these people years ago are stupid is as stupid does. I have noticed in the last 2 seasons they are gearing more to persons who are giving back and just don't have the funds to keep there houses up. I believe these houses will be kept better in check by these persons. They have gotten into holes and just needed a boost up. Years earlier it seemed like it was people who just didn't care and wanted a hand out.

oh, I also read where the Make a Wish foundation is fulfilling a wish on this location. A 9 yr old (? age) boy from Canada wanted his wish of being "behind" the scenes of this show since it was his favorite. So, they sent him to this location.

I am of the opinion that elGus reads all this negativity on the internet and, because he wants to believe the worst about the poor or about anyone who has ever been given something for nothing with no strings attached, he chooses to believe it all rather than research.

I haven't followed the stories. I just remember reading of several instances in which they've been sued for shoddy construction. I don't watch the show, so it wasn't really important to me.

The EHMO group went to Target on 153 last night and bought around $10,000 of stuff for the house.

I was down that way yesterday. What a zoo! I wonder how the store on the corner of Page & Lakeview is holding up? I use Page Rd a lot so I'll see the house soon enough.
I wonder if they went into the antique mall? There are a lot of decorators that go in there.

Let's see... A question asked: Is there a record of how long these homes last? A question answered: And I've seen a few followups in which the homeowners destroyed the new home or, as in at least two cases, mortgaged it beyond their ability to pay it and lost it. And an hysterical followup by a troll who is a desperate attention whore: I am of the opinion that elGus reads all this negativity on the internet and, because he wants to believe the worst about the poor or about anyone who has ever been given something for nothing with no strings attached, he chooses to believe it all rather than research.

Perhaps you missed the post in between where Dire debunked your tales of woe which prompted my response. You made a commentary of opinion. Dire posted fact with backup. Your opinion was obviously formed by reading internet lies, propaganda &/or innuendo.

Dire's post supported what I said. Simply added to it that it was for a good reason.
Either way, doesn't change the fact that a question was asked, a question was answered, and an attention whore opened her pie hole hysterically.

So this proves that this is just a SHOW and for entertainment purposes only. Wonder if the neighbors property taxes will now go up? Shoddy built houses, people losing homes! Hmmm!

On the TV news last night it was reported that for this house the Fort O. taxes would not be increased.
There is a local group collecting donations to pay off the family's mortgage. It was stated that if not enough donations were collected to pay off the mortgage the network would pony up the remainder.
Maybe the show has learned some lessons from previous problems. Maybe with no mortgage to contend with, this family will be able to keep with the regular maintenance etc that every house needs.
I, for one, hope the best for them.
