I don't see what the big deal is here. We've been in a cruddy economy for a few years. Restaurants everywhere have felt the pinch. German food is a specific cuisine that doesn't seem to have quite the following of Chinese or Thai food. It would be a risky venture. I'd try it but I don't know if I could get my children to try it.

I would love a little variety in the restaurant scene here. A good German restaurant would be nice. Sausages and sauerkraut. Mmmmmm! All these generic "Chinese" and "Mexican" restaurants here are mostly awful. And I don't think too many people would eat authentic Chinese or Mexican food.

There is a German restaurant on Frazier where the Stone Cup started in that gray building set back from the road. We checked out the menu and it seems a little pricey...$13 for a braut and side. Kids out on the deck and a few at the bar. Very casual.

Give me a VW tax break I'll open one.. If you promise to employ 2000+ people in your restaurant and create 3 to 4 times that amount in the supplier network (all in the $10 to $20 per hour range), I'm sure the state would accommodate you.

OK. Now the next step is to submit your proposal to the state for varification & vetting.

Tremont Tavern is also running a special. You can get a braut on a bun with sauerkraut and a side of pretzels for $5.

We ate there last weekend, not pleased with it. To start out, my mom is German, so we went there so she could get some semi-German food. I looked at the menu before we left, and was happy to see that they offered a veggie brat.
First, we get there, I ordered the veggie brat, was told that they don't have them - they have not found one that they like well enough. Umm, then don't have it on your menu.
Next, my sis orders what they call Bavarian House Nachos. It is supposed to be crispy German potato cakes topped with cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and choice of chicken or sausage. The "potato cakes" were what appeared to be frozen home fries, kind of what you get at Denny's in a skillet. They were certainly not potato pancakes. She was very disappointed in that dish. I got the pimento grilled cheese, it was okay, $8 seems a little pricey for what I got, the portions were pretty small. Service was not that great, waited for refills. The staff was friendly, but not that efficient.

I've eaten at the Brewhaus twice now. The sauerkraut balls were very tasty. The menu is a bit pricey. The cherry ale mustard was tasty on everything. The fried pickles are okay. The brat I ordered came with a pretzel bun, which didn't excite me. The only problem I've experienced was during my second visit - a lack of service. My friend had tea & I had water. Her tea was refilled but no one ever refilled my water. I'll wait a while before going back.

I drive by there almost every afternoon. The parking lot is no way as full as it used to be.
