My liquor store ordered me in some new Pinot Grigio. It's called Bohemian Highway. If you like Grigio, this one rocks! Also I like Barefoot Pinot as well. But the new stuff I got is better! ;D

So why does one taste so much better than the other?
Do they use different stuff to make different brands?
I liked the Barefoot but the Bohemian was a much better taste.

because one is a pinot noir grape and the other is a pinot grigio grape... different grapes make for different tastes... beyond that, it's the soil... the weather... the time of harvest... the knowledge of the winemaker...
with any winery, it's a trial/error thing... the same wine will taste different from vintage year to vintage year... many things can affect winemaking.

But both of these say Pinot Grigio on the bottles.... Isn't noir red? I will tell you this... Stonington Pinot Grigio is the shit! That's what my parents drink at their house. They always pick it up in cases when they travel up there. My stuff isn't as high dollar as theirs. But I do love wine.... ;D

BTW... gallo owns barefoot... ever since ernest and julio died, the kids have been buying up all kinds of little unknown wineries...
not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing... i guess for marketing, it's good... i surely gets the brand "placed"...
but, for the vineyard owner &/or winemaker, i'm not so sure how they fare in the long run.

I will have to ask my liquor lady to order that same year again. yep... that's the current release... most small wineries release one year at a time and most is gone before the next comes out. it's when you get to the high end wine... the stuff that cellars for years that you have to deal with multi-vintages and insuring you get the right one. some wines MUST cellar for several years before they are even ready to drink. they generally pop a bottle once a year and check it to see if it's time to release. next time you're at the bookstore/newstand (perhaps in atlanta, heh) pick up a copy of the Wine Spectator or the Wine Enthusiest... or, on a lesser scale, there is a mag called Food & Wine that may be more readily available. (it has great recipes too) just try reading up on an article or two. and, some of your larger retailers might offer classes or, at least, wine tastings with a knowledgable supplier or distributor rep and those are usuall free. it's very interesting. my company gives certification courses... i've been through the basic "Beverage Essentials" for wines and for spirits. next comes Journeyman/Wine, then Journeyman/Spirits and finally Master/Wine. hopefully, i'll make it into J-Wines by the end of the year. my department has to take them all. but, when you come out, you're certified and can get a decent job in either retail or the service industry--wine buyer, beverage manager, that sort of thing. it's a value-added requirement that i consider a perk of this job.

I have tried these at house wines so far at home: Barefoot Bohemian Highway (my fave so far) Twisted Pig Yellow Tail Harding (the box wine) At my parents: Treleaven (sp?) Stonington Linderman's (sp?)

girl... there are tons of them... but, i'm a liquor drinker... and, since i'm not a big wine drinker, i can't really advise you on a good one.
you could try googling up reviews... key in Reviews + Pinot Grigio and several links come up to website and blogs were regular folks post suggestions.
or, key in Tasting Notes + Pinot Grigio... also, google up the brand name or winery website and you can sometimes get tasting notes or reviews there.
that's how i go about locating the content i need for the product library database here at work.

The end produced a nice buzz and this wine was cheap too....about 2.00....but I didnt pay it. 8/10 for the rooster for being a rare and ghetto classic. --lookin 4 a 40 Funny how the white wine version is labeled 'Pure White Grape Wine' while this one leaves the 'pure' out -- as if either of them are 'pure' in any way possible anyways.
red rooster was not nearly as strong as i thought it would be. i was very intimidated by the games most potent product at 21%. my friend was gagging on it a lil at first. me and him have sipped wine many times. we have drank gallons of arbor mist and smoked pounds of weed for a warm buzz. one time i came to his house and he had a bottle of wild irish rose. we all agreed it was foul. he had trouble with this but eventually finished his half. i drank my half easily. we drank it on the rocks. it was pretty cold but not freezer-ed.

Wow and they get expensive too! ;D if there is diet sprite/7up around, i want gin with a splash of lime juice. if there is only diet coke/pepsi around, i do the captain morgan spiced rum though i drink it in diet ginger ale at home. in a pinch, i've been known to nip on my BF's Jeremiah Weed which is really good in ginger ale when i'm out of rum. if there is no other choice, i'll do a beer but i prefer not to have to.
