Sounds like you are doing well. One suggestion for the spaghetti, if you get whole wheat noodles instead of the regular, that is going to be better for you. I know what I am supposed to do - I just don't follow through that well sometimes. I am trying to do better too. Em, Can you get the whole wheat pasta at mainstream grocery stores?

You are on an Oakwood roll, aren't you Laura?? I guess if it is good, why not? Sounds good, all those veggies, right down my alley. I did the veggie tort again today, that was the last one, I was wanting to use them up. Their portions are not huge, their selection of veggies is very large and everything is fresh tasting like you make at home. Going tomorrow again if I can. I am trying to eat either veggies and/or salads for lunch and then small dinners with chicken or fish. I have eaten spaghetti (i cooked at home for dinner) this week but without meat substituted mushrooms... I am just trying it to see if it will make a difference for me. just make sure you get some protein up in there... you'll need it if you want to build up a little muscle with your workouts.

I think pinto beans have protein. I read somewhere you can substitute beans and legumes for your meat as your protein.
Em, is that correct or do I need to substitute something different?

Beans are a good source of protein. And you are eating chicken or fish at night. You should be okay on the protein. Here is a webmd article on how beans are good for you: www.webmd.com/diet/features/beans-protein-rich-superfoodsAnd there are your pinto beans that are good with antioxidents as well from the article: In a U.S. Department of Agriculture study, researchers measured the antioxidant capacities of more than 100 common foods. Three types of beans made the top four: small red beans, red kidney beans, and pinto beans. And three others -- black beans, navy beans, and black-eyed peas -- achieved top-40 status

Oh, and you can get whole wheat pasta at Bi-Lo or Wal-Mart. Some people don't like it, so don't stock up on a bunch before you try it. It is just like white versus wheat bread - you want the wheat bread for the nutrients that are stripped away in the white bread. Same with the pasta. I happen to like the whole wheat pasta, hubby does not.

I am really starting to get into all this... ;D I have only lost 5 lbs since I started this but I do feel better even though I know I would feel much better if I quit smoking. One thing at a time... ;D

I could quit every vice I have all together and it wouldn't phase me as long as I could keep smoking. I know it's a mindset but I just have not been able to kick it... One day... ;D
